Political Group Demands CNN Terminate Kaczynski and KFile Smear Team
Plans network protest in Atlanta
BOSTON, July 5, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Media Equality Project has called on CNN to terminate reporter Andrew Kaczynski, whose "KFile" platform on CNN.com is billed as "The leading investigation team for the social, mobile generation."
Media Equality Project co-founder Brian Maloney said, "Because Andrew Kaczynski and KFile exist only as a partisan smear team, they have no place inside any American newsroom. Given today's heavy-handed threat against the creator of a humorous political GIF, CNN and Time Warner have no choice but to terminate Kaczynski and shut down KFile for good"
"When a media outlet allows reporters to advance their personal political agendas and call it news, it isn't investigative journalism. It is inciting harassment. The hashtag #CNNBlackmail is now trending worldwide because Kaczynski threatened to expose the identity of the creator of the viral Trump-CNN wrestling video," added Melanie Morgan, Media Equality Project co-founder.
"This is the same reporter who spread lies about Monica Crowley and Sheriff Clarke to prevent them from working in the Trump Administration. He smeared innocent people in Boston, tweeting that they were responsible for the bombing attacks. He isn't just biased, he's sloppy, reckless and irresponsible," Morgan continued.
The Media Equality Project has documented these attacks, encouraging supporters to contact CNN advertisers to let them know they won't support their products until Kaczynski is gone.
Through our "Stop the Scalpings" project, volunteers have focused their efforts on corporate supporters of MSNBC's Rachel Maddow; CNN's Kathy Griffin and Don Lemon; and the Public Theater's "Shakespeare in the Park" performance in NYC.
Activists are planning a protest outside CNN's Atlanta, GA headquarters on July 22, 2017. For more information, please visit MediaEqualizer.com.
