NEW YORK, Nov. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Global public relations leader Porter Novelli announced that the agency has won the Jack Felton Golden Ruler Award, which recognizes excellence in public relations research, measurement and evaluation, for "Changing Behavior Through PR: Earned Media Boosts Campaign Effectiveness During Medicare Open Enrollment," on behalf of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

"We are especially honored to win the Golden Ruler Award because it reinforces the strategic imperative that measurement plays in illustrating the true power of our communications efforts," said Michael Ramah, acting CEO, Porter Novelli. "Our work for CMS, in partnership with PRIME Research, demonstrated that even in a complex and cluttered media environment, public relations can have a profound impact in message dissemination and comprehension, and lead to results far greater than anticipated."

The Jack Felton Golden Ruler Award is sponsored by the Institute of Public Relations (IPR) and identifies superb examples of research used to support public relations practice. IPR is an independent nonprofit foundation dedicated to the science beneath the art of public relations. IPR focuses on research that matters to the practice, providing timely insights and applied intelligence that professionals can put to immediate use.

Earlier in the year, Porter Novelli won a Diamond SABRE Award for Superior Achievement in Measurement and Evaluation from The Holmes Group for the same campaign, as well as the PR News Platinum Award.
