SAN ANTONIO, Feb. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Post Acute Medical (the "Company") today announced the opening of Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital of Thousand Oaks. Now receiving referrals and open for patients first week of March, the 34-bed, full-service rehabilitation hospital will employ just under a hundred outstanding team members.
The Company currently operates its flagship rehabilitation hospital, a 65-bed facility, in the Medical Center. The opening of 34 beds in Thousand Oaks and soon 40 beds in Westover Hills makes Warm Springs a regional referral center for patients with brain, spinal cord injuries, amputations and other medically complex diagnoses.
The hospital will feature a dedicated military unit with controlled access. The first of its generation among non-governmental rehab providers in San Antonio, Warm Springs is a Veterans Center of Excellence (VCE), proud to serve the rehab needs of the military and their families, and is an approved Tri-Care provider. The Thousand Oaks location was selected for this program due to proximity to San Antonio Military Medical Center (previously Brooke Army Medical Center) as well as the generous outdoor space which will be very conducive to healing for all patients served at the Thousand Oaks location. "It is our honor to serve the military rehab needs for all they do to serve our country," says Warm Springs Director of Veteran Affairs Dan Blasini, RN.
The Company welcomes the medical and general community to participate in the Open House on March 8th, 4-7pm. The address for Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital of Thousand Oaks is:
14747 Jones Maltsberger Road
San Antonio, TX 78247

"There is a growing need for quality inpatient medical rehabilitation services in the greater San Antonio area," said Anthony Misitano, President and Chief Executive Officer of Post Acute Medical. "We are able to deliver specialized care in a setting that provides the needed therapy and training to help patients recovery as fully as possible. This level of recovery isn't typically possible for many patients during their brief acute care hospital stay. The inpatient rehabilitation hospital patient population has grown due to the numerous and often heroic trauma care in our acute care hospitals and also on the battlefield. Increased use of seat belts has also helped people survive significant trauma. The specialized medical and rehabilitation needs of this population are best treated in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital."
Debora Bornmann, hospital CEO, states, "A centralized referral line has been established so that only one call is required to start the referral process for all of our San Antonio area locations. This will result in a more efficient admissions process and save our referral sources at the acute care hospitals significant time, while giving patients the choice of multiple locations. Patients and families have trusted their post-acute healthcare to Post Acute Medical and its subsidiary Warm Springs Rehabilitation System for over 75 years and we look forward to continuing the tradition to better meet the rehabilitation needs for North San Antonio, the Stone Oak and Thousand Oaks. All Warm Springs hospitals offer an open medical staff and extend a welcome to any credentialed physician in the San Antonio area wishing to follow their patients."
