The market registered 632 deals worth US$112.3 billion in Q2 2017, as compared to 680 deals worth US$132.9 billion in Q1 2017. Asset Finance in the power industry constituted the largest segment with 127 deals which accounted for 20% of the total deals in Q2 2017 followed by asset transactions with 124 deals representing 19% and M&As with 98 deals representing 16% of the total deals during the same period. North America registered an increase in the number of deals and a decrease in deal value with 225 deals worth US$41.4 billion in Q2 2017, as compared to 214 deals worth US$45.4 billion in Q1 2017. Solar energy market topped the table in the number of deals with 254 in Q2 2017, followed by wind energy and fossil fuel markets with 177 and 124 deals, respectively. JPMorgan Chase & Co. was ranked at the top of the M&A advisory table for advising on acquisitions, divestures and mergers of power companies and assets with 11 M&A transactions worth US$11.6 billion in the power industry from Q2 2016 and Q2 2017.
