President of Fort Hood Employees' Union Issues Statement on Active Shooter Situation
AFGE President J. David Cox "chilled by reports of this heinous crime"
WASHINGTON, April 2, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- American Federation of Government Employees National President J. David Cox Sr. this evening issued the following statement in response to reports of an active shooter situation at Fort Hood, where AFGE represents more than 3,200 employees:
"We are chilled by reports of this heinous crime at Fort Hood. Our sincerest thoughts and prayers go out to the employees, service members, visitors and all those who were injured in this despicable act. Thank you to all of the uniformed and civilian personnel at Fort Hood and across the world who work to defend our freedoms every day. AFGE will be working closely with union officials on the ground to assess the situation."
