LOS ANGELES, Nov. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- 'Tis the season… to save! Today, Savings.com, the leading online destination for the best coupons and deals, announced the launch of the PriceJump mobile application for iOS. The new app leverages real-time pricing data from more than 5,000 online retailers, local stores and Amazon.com to find shoppers the lowest price on any item they want to buy.
The premise is simple. At any given time, there is a retailer that has the absolute lowest price on an item, and PriceJump by Savings.com finds it in seconds. Prices are presented in three categories for easy browsing:
- Best Amazon price
- Best online price
- Best price from a local store near you
The app is easy to use. Upon opening, shoppers simply scan an item's barcode, compare prices and save. A quick price check can save shoppers up to 70% on toys, electronics, apparel, home furnishings and other popular items.
To highlight the value of PriceJump for today's shopper, Savings.com tracked the prices on more than 500 popular items for several weeks, and the resulting data revealed an aggressive and dynamic pricing ecosystem. Amazon and other retailers change prices nearly every day. As a result, the lowest price of an item, as well as the best place to purchase that item, also changes daily. In a two-week period, the lowest price changed 10 or more times on nearly 20% of the items tracked, and it changed five or more times on 45% of the items. Specific examples include:
- Disney Frozen Sparkle Princess Elsa Doll: On October 17, the item was priced as low as $14.99 on Amazon, and the next day it spiked to $20.39. Walmart and Target both offered the item at the absolute lowest price of $12.79 within a few days, while another retailer spiked to as high as $28.90 for the same item.
- Garmin Vivofit Fitness Band: In late October, the product ranged in price from $97 on Amazon to $167.90 on Newegg. Sears fluctuated between $98 and $136 day-to-day. On one day alone, 15 different retailers had nine different prices.
- Microsoft Surface Pro: On one day alone, a shopper could purchase the product for as little as $335.97 or as much as $523.97, depending on which retailer he or she chose.
"With dynamic pricing in play in a big way during the holidays, consumers have no choice but to comparison shop to find the best deal," said Loren Bendele, president of Savings.com. "At Savings.com, our ultimate goal is to help shoppers find the absolute best price, and PriceJump gives consumers a quick, easy way to benefit from retailer price wars this holiday season."
PriceJump app users have the ability to search millions of products from leading retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Sears and more. The app also features Amazon reviews, photos and key product details. Consumers can even make purchases online, directly from their mobile devices.
The PriceJump mobile app is available to download for free in the App Store. The app is an expansion of the PriceJump Chrome browser extension that launched in July 2014. For more information visit Savings.com. You can also follow the brand on Facebook or on Twitter.
