SAN DIEGO, June 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- PriceSmart, Inc. (NASDAQ: PSMT) today announced that net warehouse club sales for the month of May 2017 increased 1.8% to $234.2 million, from $230.2 million in May 2016. For the nine months ended May 31, 2017, net sales increased 3.0% to $2,199.1 million from $2,134.4 million for the nine months ended May 31, 2016. There were 39 warehouse clubs in operation at the end of May 2017 and 38 warehouse clubs in operation at the end of May 2016.
For the five-week period ended June 4, 2017, comparable sales for the 38 warehouse clubs open at least 13 1/2 full months increased 1.5%, compared to the same five-week period last year. For the thirty-nine week period ended June 4, 2017, comparable warehouse sales increased 1.4%, compared to the comparable thirty-nine week period a year ago.
