Prize-Winning Student Videos To Help Reduce Underage Drinking
HALLOWELL, Maine, May 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations (BABLO) and Maine Spirits are pleased to announce a new Underage Drinking Prevention Video Campaign produced by a Maine high school student.
In February, BABLO and Maine Spirits launched a contest that invited Maine students to create 30-second videos that address the danger of underage drinking. Created as part of a statewide Underage Drinking Prevention Campaign, the first-place winning video was awarded $5,000 towards the students' school. Prizes were also awarded for second and third place.
A total of 19 videos were entered in the contest. First place was awarded to Lukas Grube and Fantasia Perez from Winthrop High School with a video titled, "The Call". As you can imagine, every parent's worst fear is getting a call that something has happened to your child. Second place was awarded to Derek Barclay and Libby Nason from Old Town High School with a video titled "Happy Birthday" and third was awarded to Alex Blackie, also from Old Town High School; his video was titled, "Preventing Underage Drinking".
This is the first campaign of its kind from Maine Spirits and BABLO. The winning videos from this collaborative project will be used as PSAs on social media and local programming.
Maine Spirits and BABLO look forward to sponsoring this campaign again in the future.
