Biometrics News: Prominent Investor and award winning producer discusses his due diligence for investing in the both the film and biometrics technology sector. FN Media Group (FNM) is pleased to publish a follow up interview with Rhode Island investor Chad A. Verdi. Mr. Verdi gives us an update on the progress of two of his biggest projects he shared last September. He also shares insight into his holdings in Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) and the biometric sector.
He then talked about his investment in a mobile security /biometric company, NXT-ID, Inc. (OTCQB: NXTD) and its next generation wallet and the recent signings of Martin Scorsese, Bruce Cohen along with Ben Younger for his feature film 'Bleed for This'.
Mr. Verdi shares what's new and what's on the horizon for what he believes are his two biggest projects to in his career.
Chad, your movie production company just announced the signings of Aaron Eckhart and Miles Teller to your feature film, "BLEED FOR THIS" and the reaction from the media was significant in terms of coverage, last count I saw over 80 plus news sources globally picked up the news. How does that feel?
A: Chad A. Verdi
Having top names in Hollywood right no signed on in addition to our team in place resulted in Hollywood Reporter, Variety, AP and everyone talking about this film. I saw it picked up in Ireland and the UK as well. Aaron Eckhart is a Golden Globe nominated actor, his movies include: THE DARK KNIGHT, OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN, I, FRANKENSTEIN and he will take on the role of Paz's boxing trainer, Kevin Rooney. Actor Miles Teller, with movie titles including: THE SPECTACULAR NOW, 21 & OVER, PROJECT X, is currently starring in THAT AWKWARD MOMENT, in theaters now, will take on the role of Vinny Paz.
You previously talked to us about signing writer and director Ben Younger and Oscar-winner Martin Scorsese; is that your formula for success? Bring on the best from the beginning and it will attract the cast you want?
A: Chad A. Verdi
Yes, bring on the A team and combine with a compelling story line of a local comeback boxing legend to the newly signed actors and to have a legend like Martin Scorsese on board is a producer's dream. Ben Younger will make this film become the next Rocky or even better. I believe this will be one of the greatest boxing films of this decade and will be one that people watch over and over again to be inspired.
Around the same time the movie goes pre-production this year you hope to see the fruit of your investment in NXT-ID, Inc. and its next generation smart wallet, the Wocket, launch. How do you see the Wocket positioned in the marketplace and why are you still a believer?
A: Chad A. Verdi
The Company describes the Wocket™ (http://www.thewocket.com/) as a next generation smart wallet designed to replace all the cards in your wallet, no smart phone required. The Wocket works anywhere credit cards are accepted and only works with your biometric stamp of approval. I call it the "Holy Grail"for mobile payment security and replacing your wallet. Biometric technology is still all the buzz this year and I have it in my investment with NXTD and with my shares in Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) and its fingerprint recognition and now they are working on facial recognition as well.
Following our interview last September a competitor, the COLIN surfaced with a big media campaign in November and December. Have you looked at the competition and what are your thoughts?
A: Chad A. Verdi
COIN has done a great job in attracting a consumer and media following. Both aim to give you a product to replace all the credit cards in your wallet. If you compare the actual product and technology features and benefits there are several things to point out that differentiate the Wocket and COIN. The Wocket can be used independent of your smart phone, it can hold over 100 cards vs the 8 cards on COIN. The Wocket also has much stronger security features with its biometric access. What is great for users is one of the features of the programmable card; each time the card is used, it is zerorize; no information is stored. That way if someone loose it or it gets stolen, your information is not passed on. Bottom line-there has to be competition in the space; there is lot of money on the table in this game. Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) has a wallet as well, so it's anybody's game. But if the Wocket delivers what it promise and comes to market this year first, I still stand by what I said before; for me the Wocket is even bigger and more exciting than Bleed for This.
