"Every week I talk with at least one family man in his 40s who has prostate cancer," ZERO's CEO Jamie Bearse said. "Men are dying. Families are suffering. We need to stand together and make fighting prostate cancer a national priority in order to see a real change in the number of lives being saved from the disease."

Prostate cancer continues to be the second most deadly cancer in men, accounting for 10 percent of estimated new cancer deaths in 2014. The report estimates that 233,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year, and 29,480 will die from the disease.

ZERO is leading the fight to end prostate cancer and is supporting men and families through our programs and initiatives, including:

  • The ZERO Prostate Cancer Drive, which provided free early detection to more than 4,000 at-risk men in 2013

  • More than 2,300 men with advanced prostate cancer benefitted from patient co-pay assistance and educational materials provided by ZERO in the past year
  • The ZERO Prostate Cancer Summit, where more than 150 advocates gathered in Washington, DC to educate their elected officials on the importance of research funding for prostate cancer and discuss advocacy efforts to take home to their local communities
  • A new, comprehensive website to educate men and families about prostate cancer, and an advocacy microsite to help build an army of prostate cancer advocates across the nation.
