Groveland Calls for Change at Biglari Holdings (BH)
NEW YORK, April 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Groveland Capital, led by founder and portfolio manager Nick Swenson, is pushing for change at Biglari Holdings, the holding company that owns a diverse range of assets, including Steak 'n Shake and Maxim magazine. Groveland is calling for the removal of Biglari's eponymous CEO, Sardar Biglari, from the company's board, and has criticized the company's corporate governance practices and decline in operating performance. Biglari has fired back at Groveland, pointing to its lack of "skin in the game" and inexperience in dealing with a business "anywhere near the scale" of Biglari Holdings. Mr. Biglari is no stranger to proxy contests, but this will be his first as target rather than instigator.
Join us as Nick Swenson and Groveland portfolio manager Seth Barkett discuss the elements of Groveland's campaign and their vision for Biglari going forward.
