PRSA-NCC Recognizes and Honors D.C. Area Organizations and Professionals for Success in Public Relations
Judy Phair, APR, Fellow PRSA and Bill Oliver Inducted Into the National Capital Public Relations Hall of Fame
WASHINGTON, Sept. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Public Relations Society of America - National Capital Chapter (PRSA-NCC) recognized and honored the outstanding public relations campaigns and initiatives produced by Washington D.C. area industry professionals at its 45th annual Thoth Awards Gala held on September 18th at the Pavilion Room of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.
The gala attracted nearly 200 people this year. It began with the induction of Judy Phair and Bill Oliver into the National Capital Public Relations Hall of Fame. Phair, a former president of PRSA National is also president of her own agency, PhairAdvantage Communications, LLC. Oliver, former Senior Vice President of Communications for AT&T, is currently operating a private consultancy, Bill Oliver Public Affairs. Bill Novelli, a member of the Hall of Fame and one of the original founders of Porter Novelli, introduced the inductees during this ceremony. Criteria for induction in the National Capital Public Relations Hall of Fame includes 30 or more years of distinguished accomplishments, visionary leadership, mentoring, commitment to the profession, positive and significant impacts on the industry, and contributions to the community. Inductees are nominated by their peers and must have worked in the Washington, D.C. area for at least ten years.

PRSA-NCC then distributed 38 Thoth Awards and Certificates of Excellence to winners last night. The Thoth Awards "Best In Show" award was presented to PRR, Inc. for the "Maryland Oral Health Social Marketing Initiative: Healthy Teeth, Healthy Kids."
"We are excited to accept the 2013 Thoth Best in Show Award," said John Welby, Director of Oral Health Literacy, Maryland Office of Oral Health. "This award helps shed light on the often and forgotten importance of oral health for children not just in the state of Maryland, but throughout the nation."
An experienced panel of Thoth Awards judges selected the finalists by reviewing numerous entries from a wide-range of public relations, non-profit, and corporate organizations located in the Washington, D.C. area.
