LOS ANGELES, Jan. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- As we near the release of the final top-25 poll for this year's college football season, PuppySpot.com, the trusted service connecting responsible dog breeders with caring people in search of a puppy, today revealed its top-25 list of most popular dog breeds of 2016, according to the number of puppies PuppySpot placed in forever homes over the course of the year. For the second year in a row, the top two breeds are strong classics, the Labrador Retriever and German Shepherd.
While, surprisingly, the names in the top-25 remained the same as in 2015, there was plenty of movement among the breeds on the list. The Golden Retriever (#3) and the Yorkshire Terrier (#4) swapped places, while the Dachshund jumped into the top-10, up four spots to #8, and the trendy French Bulldog jumped an impressive eight spots to #14.
The final 2016 PuppySpot top-25 rankings:
- Labrador Retriever
- German Shepherd
- Golden Retriever
- Yorkshire Terrier
- Siberian Husky
- Shih Tzu
- French Bulldog
- Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
- Boston Terrier
- Great Dane
