MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- PwC US today announced the appointment of Thomas Montminy to Managing Partner of the firm's Greater Minneapolis market, effective immediately. Montminy brings 30 years of experience to the role and will be responsible for leading more than 540 professionals in delivering audit, tax and advisory services to clients in the firm's Minneapolis office.

Montminy succeeds Jim Kolar, who led the Greater Minneapolis market for PwC for the last six and a half years during which time, the office experienced a 55 percent growth in employees. Kolar recently relocated to Chicago after being named the Managing Partner of PwC's Greater Chicago market, where he oversees PwC's Chicago, Milwaukee, Peoria and Des Moines offices and more than 2,800 professionals.

Montminy has spent the majority of his career with PwC servicing both venture-backed as well as large-cap multinational industrial and medical technology companies and assisting them with IPOs, mergers, acquisitions, corporate ventures and numerous other complex public and private debt and equity financings. He started his career in PwC's Boston office and also worked in PwC's National Office in New York for three years where he spent considerable time streamlining and developing practical policies and training for PwC professionals as well as directly assisting engagement teams on effective and efficient client service strategies.

Over the past few years, Montminy was PwC's representative on the COSO Advisory Council during the updating of Internal Control – Integrated Framework. Montminy has also been a frequent speaker at various national and local industry, auditing and accounting forums such as the IBF and Minnesota LifeScience Alley MedTech Investing Conference, Accounting and Reporting Congress, BIO CEO Conference and various MassMedic Conferences.
Montminy received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Boston College and has served as a member of the Boston College Accounting Advisory Board. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in Minnesota, Massachusetts and New Jersey and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Minnesota and Massachusetts Society of CPAs.
In addition to his professional affiliations, Montminy leads the firm's recruiting efforts at the University of Minneapolis Carlson School and is a member of the Greater Twin Cities United Way's Tocqueville Society.
