PHILADELPHIA, March 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Philadelphia office of PwC US is pleased to announce that it has been selected as one of Philly.com's Top Workplaces in 2014, making it the firm's fifth consecutive year to be featured as a Top Workplace in the region. This year, PwC Philadelphia was ranked #5, alongside a number of other distinguished and esteemed companies in the area.
"We are honored to be named one of the Top Workplaces in the Philadelphia region for the fifth year in a row. I want to congratulate each of our 1,600 employees in the Philadelphia office on this award and thank them for their ongoing dedication, tenacity and initiative to provide outstanding service to our clients. It is our people who ultimately make the firm such a great place to work," said Ed Lovelidge, Managing Partner of PwC's Philadelphia Metro Market. "We are committed to supporting a culture where our people are connected, engaged and inspired by the opportunities around them - whether it's creating value for our clients; the ability to make a difference in the Philadelphia community; or the chance to continuously develop personally and professionally."
The activities, programs and initiatives supporting PwC Philadelphia's inclusion as one of the Top Workplaces list include
- PwC is committed to sustaining an inclusive culture and that includes a work environment that supports our people throughout their career. Workplace flexibility is about working creatively to manage our lives at work and at home. Nearly all of our people in the Philadelphia market have a degree of flexibility, allowing them to work when and where they can while delivering exceptional service to our clients.
- PwC has made significant investments to focus on continuously developing our people both personally and professionally. PwC launched the "PwC Professional," a career progression framework designed to accelerate our people's development. The framework includes five dimensions of focus: business acumen, global acumen, relationships, technical capabilities and becoming a "whole leader" (one who is well rounded and has a diverse skill set).
- With respect to Corporate Responsibility, PwC's Philadelphia office volunteered with the Junior Achievement of Delaware Valley for its "JA-in-a-Day" program, an intensive one-day initiative that took place on November 1st. Approximately 350 volunteers from the local PwC Philadelphia office taught at eight different schools in the Greater Philadelphia region to teach valuable business, economic and life skills to students. PwC volunteers taught a day-long lesson plan, coaching students from kindergarten through eighth grade on important concepts including creative thinking, problem-solving and working in teams to help promote financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship. PwC reached over 3,700 students in 130 classes in one day.
- The Philadelphia office donated $200,000 to five Philadelphia-based non-profit organizations, funded through grants from the PwC Charitable Foundation.
