SEATTLE, May 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- PYCO, Inc. has revealed the top 10 most extroverted cities in America. PYCO researchers found Keota, IA has more extroverts per capita than any other city in the United States, including New York City. Exactly 61.639% of Keota's adult population were scored as extrovert. Manchester, NY came in second with 61.500%, and Helenville,WI was tenth with 60.570% of its adult population scoring as extrovert.
Small towns like Keota, IA were found to be more extroverted in general. By comparison, New York City is 5% less extroverted than Keota. "When I ask people which city they think is the most extroverted, most say New York City," said Keith Streckenbach, PYCO Chief Operating Officer. "That just is not the case. At first it is counterintuitive in that New York City doesn't top the list, but then it makes sense when you think about small town life and that our scores are per capita." Most experts agree that the USA as a whole is slightly extroverted around 52% extroverted, which PYCO also determined in its analysis.
PYCO researchers determined the extraversion level of cities by analyzing the proprietary, psychological type PYCO database of 181 million Americans who are 18 years and older, and grouping by city with 1,000 or more persons with a PYCO Score.
In an extroverted city, you'll find more people, per capita, who get energized from interacting with people and activities, especially face-to-face activities. Extroverts have a tendency to have a wide range of interests and to keep an active involvement with people and things. They communicate outwardly with energy, excitement, and enthusiasm. Extroverts, without any hesitation, share personal information and speak freely and vocally.
