Q2 JSSI Business Aviation Index Indicates Growth in Several Key Sectors, including Automotive, Manufacturing and Energy
Financial Services and Technology Sectors Struggle
CHICAGO, Sept. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Business Aviation sector is showing relatively flat year-over-year flight hour growth of approximately 1%. More promising are the Q2 results, which show a 3% surge in flight hours over Q1 with several key industries and regions showing promising signs of recovery.
Jet Support Services, Inc. (JSSI), the world's leading provider of maintenance support and financial services to the business aviation industry, has released its quarterly in-depth index that tracks the number of hours that business aircraft have flown.
"When businesses are flying, it's usually an indication that their business is thriving. Flight hours are a powerful economic indicator from both a regional and business sector perspective," said Neil Book, President and CEO, JSSI.
Mr. Book continued, "We are able to break down our index by industry and the frequency with which they fly, which also gleans interesting trend information. Sectors like automotive and manufacturing are showing very encouraging signs, while the technology sector seems to be slowing."

"By region, we see a very interesting shift in Asia/Australia flight hours in the second quarter. The economic slowdown in China has had spillover effects on the rest of the Asian market, which in turn has decreased flight hours," said Mr. Book. "In Europe, we are encouraged by the growth in flight hours, which is consistent with the increased investor confidence we've seen in the market. Recent growth in the German and French economies, which has helped pull the Eurozone out of its recession in the second quarter of 2013, has clearly had an impact."
