QinetiQ North America's Aviation Data Trainer™ Application Now Available in the iTunes Store
Tool will help users memorize national and international aviation data sets using a variety of learning tools
MCLEAN, Va., March 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- QinetiQ North America today announced that its Aviation Data Trainer application is now available in the iTunes Store. The application provides air traffic controllers, pilots, airport staff and flight enthusiasts with a way to memorize and test themselves on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transportation Association (IATA) data sets—or codes—that are the core of air operations around the world.
The Aviation Data Trainer provides up to three levels of support to assist the user in learning and understanding aviation codes for day-to-day operations. It includes data sets for hundreds of airports, telephony codes, and airline and aircraft identifiers in North America, Europe and around the world.
The Aviation Data Trainer allows users to learn codes at their own pace, using configurable flash cards and tests to evaluate and measure progression, as well as games to test memory. The application is free to download until March 12, after which it will cost $1.99.
"QinetiQ North America has an impressive pedigree in the training and simulation market. Combined with our knowledge of the Federal Aviation Administration, we are offering an innovative and unique training tool that will appeal to both current air traffic controllers and pilots, as well as the next generation of users that expect this type of interactive learning tool," said John Radziszewski, executive vice president and general manager, QinetiQ North America.
The release of the Aviation Data Trainer is the first of three planned stages of the application: the next level will provide creative training applications to help users learn about different airspaces around the world, and the third level will focus on specific skill sets for air traffic controllers.
QinetiQ North America also plans to add data sets and codes in the future to help users recognize military airspaces and military aircraft.
