Powered by dual Xeon E5 processors and 16 DIMM slots for up to 1TB of DDR4 2133MHz RAM, the TDS-16489U features 4 10GbE network ports and is 40GbE ready out of the box. Three independent 12BGBs SAS controllers allow for maximum I/O performance among the 16 drives and 4 PCIe NVMe SSDs used for caching. Support for optional RadeonÒ R7 & R9 graphics cards for full GPU pass-through to virtualized machines. With its server grade performance for Big Data applications, the TDS-16489U is cost effective, reliable, and scalable.
QNAP Qtier Technology and GPU Pass-through – part of QTS 4.2
QNAP's Qtier technology dynamically analyzes and balances data into 3 tiers and is part of the embedded QTS 4.2 management software. "Hot" frequently-accessed data is kept in the SSD cache for fastest delivery, less-frequently used "warm" data in high-performance SAS HDDs, and infrequently used or archived "cold" data on the most cost-effective SATA drives. This combination of data management with ultra-fast SSD caching is proven to accelerate network performance with lower total cost of ownership.
In addition to Qtier technology is the GPU-Pass-through capability of the TDS-16489U. As graphics capabilities have long been limited on virtualized platforms, with this feature solves this issue and lets an external dedication GPU be assigned directly to a VM to provide full support for rich 3D graphics/graphic-intensive applications.
