Petruzzello Outlines Qorvis' Successes and Growth Strategy

WASHINGTON, March 11, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Qorvis Communications, a D.C.-based public and media relations company that celebrated its 10th birthday last year, is entering a new era, with new partners and growth in new and existing business areas. In an interview with the Washington Business Journal, Michael Petruzzello outlined how the agency is poised to take advantage of burgeoning opportunities: "Qorvis is a healthy and resilient firm, with a clear strategy for growth in Washington and around the world."

"Qorvis weathered the recession better than most," Petruzzello said, adding that the firm had no layoffs in the downturn. "When most of the sector was down 10 to 20 percent, we were flat or better over those years."

Last year, the firm's revenue grew 20 percent, and it is currently up 10 percent from the first quarter of 2010. The company is looking to hire six people, including junior staff members and a couple mid-management employees. The firm plans to plant new offices—its first outside of D.C.—in New York and Europe this year.

In the last two months, the firm added four new partners: Gregory Lagana , former senior vice president for communications and marketing at DynCorp International; Sam Dealey , the ex-top editor at The Washington Times; John Reid , former spokesman for former Sen. George Allen , R-Va.; and Ron Faucheux , who was promoted to partner while retaining his position as president of Clarus Research Group. Now, with 11 partners and 14 managing directors, Petruzzello is not looking to immediately add any more senior-level staff members.

"We don't feel that we have any holes to fill. We are well-stocked right now," he said. "It's probably the strongest group we have had in 10 years."
