KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Sept. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Rail Business Asia 2013 was held in Malaysia at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 10-12 September 2013. Rail Business Asia 2013 was officiated by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Hj Abdul Razak, which drew more than 600 guests during the Opening and Launch Ceremony. Alongside the Prime Minister was YB Datuk Haji Fadillah Yusof, Minister of Works Malaysia, YBhg Datuk Himmat Singh, Secretary General of Ministry of Works Malaysia, YBhg Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar, Chairman of Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD), YBhg Datuk Hamzah Hasan, Chairman of Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), YBhg Dato' Sri Dr Judin Abdul Karim, Chief Executive, CIDB and YBhg Tan Sri Dato Dr. Ahmad Mustaffa Babjee, Chairman, UBM Malaysia.

Dato' Sri Mohd Najib also witnessed the MoU signing between SPAD and the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE) to launch the Malaysian Chapter, at Rail Business Asia 2013.
Over 150 delegates attended the conference, comprising of regulators, rail asset owners, operators and leading solutions providers, as they discussed the pertinent theme of "Towards Excellence in Rail Innovation, Sustainability and Mobility."
The eminent speakers of Rail Business Asia was represented by rail industry leaders from Malaysia, mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand as well as from France, Germany and Spain. During the two-day conference, delegates heard from and networked with the speakers who discussed project planning and updates, high speed rail projects, strategies and latest innovations, service optimisation and safety standards, human capital development, investment and financing, rail infrastructure and sustainability which also covered transit oriented development.
