RCC Associates General Contractors Benefiting from Growth in New Restaurants in 2015, Especially the Fast Casual Segment
DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla., Aug. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Having built 375 restaurants from Honolulu to Puerto Rico over the past 45 years, RCC Associates has seen a wide divergence in trends, but nothing quite so robust as the Fast Casual Segment that is rapidly gaining market share in South Florida and nationally.
Driven by millennials and trending hard as the "next big thing," Fast Casual is positioned somewhere between Quick Service (fast food restaurants) and Casual Dining restaurants. The category provides counter service and offers more customized, freshly prepared and higher quality food in a more upscale setting than traditional Quick Service Restaurants. In fact, Americans have spent more than $21 billion at Fast Casual restaurants last year.
Stats from market research firm Euromonitor show Fast Casual has grown by 550 percent since 1999, more than ten times of growth seen in the fast food industry over the same period.
"Our restaurant business is literally exploding, and Fast Casual is a growing segment," said RCC President and CEO Beverly Raphael, whose company has notched some $71 million in restaurant construction business so far in 2015 with another $25 million projected by end of year. More than one third of that business is in the Fast Casual segment.
RCC, which has built numerous locations for Chipotle Mexican Grill, Pei Wei Fresh Kitchen and Panera Bread (industry Fast Casual leaders), has seamlessly adjusted to the trend with teams focusing specifically on delivering Fast Casual within its very busy restaurant construction division.
RCC has recently built several Fast Casual locations in South Florida, including Panera Bread, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Pei Wei Fresh Kitchen, Pasion Del Cielo, BurgerFi, The Counter Burger, Pizza Rox and several other examples.
Nationally, RCC has built 55 Fast Casual restaurants in three states (majority in Florida).
Raphael, whose firm is also working on numerous upscale and casual restaurants, including two grand scale restaurants at Brickell City Centre, is a preferred contractor for numerous national and regional restaurant developers, including The Cheesecake Factory, a customer for whom RCC has provided construction for over 21 years.
