Realty Management Services, Inc. Goes Green with a Host of Earth Day Events
BETHESDA, Md., May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Realty Management Services recently completed a 40 day campaign to promote eco-friendly activities in recognition of Earth Day.
The Maryland-based property management company's portfolio is comprised of more than 30 communities, all of which are participating in the Earth Day celebration. Activities range from recycling collection drives, "free-cycling" events and a conservation fact sheet that was emailed to residents. Prizes are awarded to residents who attend multiple events or adopt multiple green-friendly actions in their daily life.
"We chose to kick-off these initiatives to coincide with Earth Day, but it isn't that limited. Our aim is to make our residents, vendors and team members conscious of the impact our actions have on the environment," says Vice President of Marketing Elaine De Lude. "If we are successful, every day can be like Earth Day."
Residents of Realty Management Services' communities received a list of tips on how to conserve energy, reduce waste and recycle unwanted materials. The response from the communities and staff has been overwhelming.
"My youngest daughter recycled one of her old toys and swapped it for a toy that another child left at the desk. I really think this helped her to pick up on the concept of what recycling is about," says Heather Thompson, who resides at The Aventine of Alexandria, a 574-apartment community managed by Realty Management Services.
Recycling bins for paper, plastic and glass have been installed and are filling up quickly. Property managers are reporting large turn-outs for the Earth Day events and receive daily praise from residents about the activities.
"People make the difference and we are seeing that this is an issue people are concerned about. Going green saves resources, money and most importantly, the environment," says De Lude.
