Reed Yeboah Violins Announces Fifth Annual Exhibition of Contemporary Violin Makers
NEW YORK, Sept. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Now in its fifth year, Reed Yeboah Fine Violins announces its annual Contemporary Violin Makers Exhibition, to be held October 17–19, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. The three-day event will return to The Kosciuszko Foundation, located at 15 E. 65th Street, New York, NY 10065. Last year's exhibition drew over 1,000 attendees to view new violins, violas, and cellos from 51 renowned luthiers currently active across the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.
Celebrated for its commitment to broaden the visibility, selection, and adoption of contemporary stringed instruments, the exhibition continues to be one of the premier events of its kind for the New York market, attracting a wide variety of musicians, collectors, and amateurs from across the globe to test and purchase the finest contemporary instruments currently available. Attendees will be able to meet personally with makers—some of whom maintain lengthy waiting lists for commissioned work—to discuss their craft and available instruments, thus presenting opportunities to compare and contrast the work of these noted makers.
Founded in 2011 by expert restorer Julie Reed-Yeboah and Reed Yeboah Fine Violins Managing Director Yi-Ping Yang, the Contemporary Violin Makers Exhibition presents high-quality, professional-level instruments crafted according to over 500 years of tradition. As the value of antique stringed instruments continues to increase exponentially across global financial markets, Reed Yeboah Fine Violin's event gives performers and collectors alike the opportunity to see, up-close and personal, the latest in contemporary instruments, all of which can be purchased at the event and at a much greater rate of affordability than their 18th-century counterparts.
In a statement promoting the 2014 exhibition, Reed-Yeboah asserted that, "Good instruments do get better with age, and modern instruments, when made by great craftsmen are no exceptions. If they sound good now, they will sound even better as time passes." And their value will increase with age as well.

About the Founders:
Julie Reed-Yeboah is a world-renowned restorer of fine stringed instruments. Based in New York, her career spans over 30 years of working in the world's most prestigious workshops. She has lent her restoration expertise to foundations, museums, collectors, and musicians from all over the world. A graduate of the Newark School of Violin Making in the United Kingdom, Reed-Yeboah started making violins in her native Nebraska under violinmaker David Wiebe. Among the precious instruments she restores are the collections of the Nippon Foundation and the "Vieuxtemps" 1741 Del Gesu violin, the world's most expensive violin.
A native of Taipei, Taiwan, Yi-Ping Yang began her musical training in violin and piano before moving to the United States to pursue a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance from Florida International University. Graduate studies quickly followed, with Ms. Yang acquiring a Master of Music and Graduate Performance Diploma at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, as well as earning Yale University's prestigious Artist Diploma. An avid orchestral and chamber musician, she has traveled the globe with a roster of notable ensembles, and concert engagements which have spanned the United States, Europe, and Asia.
