SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- On National Voter Registration Day 2016, DoorDash -- the technology company connecting customers with the most local restaurants by offering door-to-door delivery -- announced it will enable on-demand voter registration as part of its Corporate Civic Responsibility partnership with Rock the Vote - the largest nonprofit, nonpartisan organization in the United States driving youth vote to the polls.
Residents in Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco can order 'Dash the Vote' packs containing voter information sheets and registration forms with prepaid envelopes, delivered straight to their doors. Customers within the delivery area in these markets will see a special 'Dash the Vote' store in-app and online, and with the click of a button or the tap of an app, voter registration forms will be on the way.
"Rock the Vote is thrilled to be working with DoorDash to highlight the importance of voting in our elections," said Jen Tolentino, Director of Civic Tech and Policy at Rock the Vote. "For many first-time voters, finding time to register is the hardest part, whether it's due to busy work schedules, family life, or educational commitments. We're excited that DoorDash is joining Rock the Vote as a Corporate Civic Responsibility partner and making registering to vote as easy as ordering your favorite food."
"We're incredibly proud to be joining forces with Rock the Vote to encourage voter registration," said Tony Xu, CEO and co-founder of DoorDash. "We're using our data-driven technology platform to make it simpler than ever for young people and first-time voters to register ahead of Election Day."
As a partner in Rock the Vote's Corporate Civic Responsibility program, DoorDash is collaborating with Rock the Vote to educate, inform and support young people throughout the political process. The Corporate Civic Responsibility program is a nonpartisan initiative focused on encouraging – and acknowledging – companies to be leaders in creating a culture of civic engagement that speaks to young people, whether they are employees or consumers. Through this program, Rock the Vote collaborates with companies, brands, and digital platforms that millennials know, utilize and rely on to ensure our generation's voice is elevated, informed, and engaged.
