Key Policy Developments to Have a High Impact on Automotive Supply and Demand
NEW YORK, Sept. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- This study gives a detailed overview of the regulatory environment in the ASEAN automotive sector with a focus on the three key automotive markets in the region—Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. The study examines the regulatory environment through an executive summary, and analyses of the automotive regulation in Malaysia, automotive regulation in Indonesia, and automotive regulation in Thailand. It also examines the impact of these factors on hybrid vehicles sales in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand during 2013–2020.
Key Findings
-Government regulations and policies play a major role in shaping the demand in ASEAN. They impact consumer choices and attitudes and can cause dramatic swings in demand.
-While policy in Thailand is oriented towards an export-driven industry, the policies of Indonesia focus more on increasing current motorization levels by making cars more affordable.
-The big-3 markets in ASEAN—Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia—have all embarked on green car programs which have taken centre stage in policy direction.
-These markets are also trying to align themselves with global markets, regulations and standards, even as they try to integrate the sector at the regional level.
Automotive Policy
