Rentrak Announces Top Video Game Rentals of 2009 and Most-Advertised Titles Based On Its Video Game Ad Monitor Service -- Xbox Dominates the 2009 Charts --

PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Rentrak Corporation (Nasdaq: RENT), the leader in multi-screen media measurement serving the advertising and entertainment industries, today announced the Top 20 performing video game rentals of 2009 based on consumer spending as well as the Top 20 most-advertised titles of the year.

In 2009, Xbox 360 titles dominated the U.S. rental charts with 17 out of the Top 20 spots. Rentrak's video game rental charts are ranked according to Home Video Essentials, Rentrak's exclusive point-of-sale (POS) tracking system, which measures title-level performance via rental transactions from more than 65,000 DVD, Blu-ray Disc and Video Game properties in the brick-and-mortar, online, and kiosk channels across North America.

Xbox 360 platform titles also racked up the most advertising circular spots on the Top 20 most-advertised video games titles of 2009. Compiled by Rentrak's Video Game Ad Monitor service, the interactive database of advertising circulars from major retailers provides users with the most granular automated brand space tracking available. The service helps to better analyze methods of marketing video games in order to more effectively promote future titles.
