***REMINDER MEDIA ADVISORY***
WASHINGTON, June 14, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Republican Main Street Partnership President Sarah Chamberlain will host key Members of Congress to discuss the bipartisan passage and impact of the Helping Families In Mental Health Crisis Act at the House Triangle at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 14, 2016.
Ms. Chamberlain will be joined by Representative Tim Murphy PhD (PA-18), the bill's main author, and Representative Eddie Bernice Johnson (TX-30), the bill's original Democrat co-sponsor. The group will also be joined by Doris A Fuller, an author of books, former award-winning journalist and mother of a daughter who experienced a first psychotic break as a college student. She described her daughter's struggles with severe mental illness and March 2015 suicide in a feature for the Washington Post, "How the 'Demons' Took My Daughter," which has been read by millions worldwide. Several other Congressional Members of the Republican Main Street Partnership will attend today's news conference, as well.
The passage of The Helping Families in Mental Crisis Act came to the forefront earlier this year on the Women2Women tour, a project of Main Street Advocacy bringing issues important to women to the forefront of the policy agenda of the Republican Main Street Partnership, a nearly two-decade old organization representing over 70 members of Congress. The bill is scheduled for markup in the House Energy and Commerce Committee beginning Tuesday evening.
