RES Systems Receives UL 1741-2010 Certification for the Razor Series™ DC-DC Converter Specifically Designed for the Wireless Cell Site Industry

PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y., May 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Renewable Energy Solution Systems [RES Systems] (Pink: RESS) (www.renewablesolutions.com) announced today that its DC-DC converter received UL [Underwriters Laboratories] certification. The coveted UL-Listed mark indicates RES Systems' compliance with rigorous industry safety standards and certifies that UL has thoroughly evaluated the Razor Series™ DC-DC Converter and found it to comply with all of its applicable safety and operational requirements. 

UL certification requires an extensive set of electrical and mechanical tests of the modules over several months. Under the UL certification program, testing ensures internal compliance with current safety standards. The modules were exposed to several rounds of testing, including accelerated stress testing under various climate conditions, mechanical impact tests, wind, snow, fire, rain, and arcing.  The DC-DC converter passed all the safety requirements to receive the certification. UL is the world's leading authority in third-party certifications, with over 118 years of experience.

RES Systems Razor Series™ is a specifically designed and field-tested power solution for wireless telecom carriers. Cell sites primarily run on DC power, and a conventional solar application does not address the inefficiencies associated with solar-generated power. The Razor Series™ solar solution continues to produce power during daylight hours even if the grid goes down.  In an off-grid setting, the Razor Series™ solar solution is an environmentally friendly, reliable power-generating solution alternative to the current power configuration of diesel generators and lead acid batteries.

About RES Systems Razor Series™. This power supply system is a DC power source used in a stand-alone (not grid connected) photovoltaic application, consisting of a 2U 19" shelf containing three 1 kW DC-DC converters and one controller module. The DC inputs of the DC-DC converters and controller module are connected in parallel, as are the DC outputs of the converters. Several populated 19" shelves may be connected in parallel in a master-slave configuration, in which case the master shelf will use a controller module and the slave shelves will use the same controllers whose storage capacitors have been retained but whose control circuits have been disabled. The product is available in two separate output voltages, +27 Vdc and +54 Vdc, each at the same output power level of 3 kW per shelf (1 kW per DC-DC converter x 3). The controller module monitors the solar power input and adjusts the output for maximum power based on the input power available. Each shelf provides a summing alarm contact.
