DUBLIN, March 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
The global chocolate market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.02% during the 2014-2019 period, according to an industry report available from Research and Markets. The report states that the increase in the price of cocoa and sugar has made it difficult for vendors to maintain prices and stable sales. This suggestion was supported in part with news today of UK luxury chocolatier Hotel Chocolat Group Ltd's plans to list shares on London's Alternative Investment Market in an attempt to acquire funds and accelerate growth.
The company plans to offer new shares and sell some of their existing stock to raise around USD 71 million in funds. This offering will take place during the second quarter, and Hotel Chocolat expect the sale of shares to value the business at USD 213.47 million. The funds will be used to expand Hotel Chocolat's store network and improve their manufacturing facilities and digital offerings.
The chocolate market in Europe is set to grow at a CAGR of 4.33% by 2019, as predicted in a market report. The report states that chocolate vendors have introduced new products, varieties and flavors to cater to demands from consumers. This growth could be higher if Hotel Chocolat prove successful in their fund raising as it will result in a greater range of products and permit them to target market segments previously inaccessible.
The global market for chocolate flavors is projected to reach a value of USD 350 million by 2019, as noted in a report. Again this market could see further growth if Hotel Chocolat are able to raise the funds they seek, as they're sure to expand the chocolate flavoring aspect of their business. It could also inspire other businesses in the chocolate market to attempt the same in an effort to accelerate growth.
