DUBLIN, March 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
A recent report published on Research and Markets forecasts the global digital media adaptor market to grow at a CAGR of 5.47% over the period 2015-2019. According to the report, consumers are no longer accessing video content on their desktops. They are consuming this content on their mobile devices, which has led to increased investment from leading online streaming service providers. The joint venture between Verizon and Hearst, to develop programming for young adults to watch on their smartphones, is a prime example of this.
Verizon Hearst Media Partners will launch two channels this spring - RatedRed.Com and Seriously.TV. The former will include programming about music, food, politics, military and faith, while the latter will offer a comedic take on current events. The programming is intended for viewers to watch on their mobile devices and will be available via Verizon's Go90 streaming service.
The increase in the number of smartphones and tablets has led to a considerable rise in the consumption of digital content, according to a report on the global digital video content market, with the market expected to grow at a CAGR of 15.43% by 2019. Another report suggests the increasing availability of high-speed Internet is a key factor in consumers using their smartphones to stream online content.
Earlier this week, rival AT&T announced it would be rolling out three new ways to stream DirecTV content on wireless and wired devices.
