ResQwalk Makes it Easy for People to Help Animals One Step At A Time
Free mobile app enables people to raise resources for animal welfare organizations in the United States and Canada, simply by walking
NEW YORK, Nov. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today ResQwalk launched a new version of its mobile app with upgraded features that enable people to easily support over 2,000 different animal welfare organizations, or ResQpartners, by using the app during a walk, run or other fitness activity.
At the beginning of each month, ResQwalk puts together a ResQpool that includes cash and product contributions from ResQsponsors. ResQwalkers simply need to pick their favorite ResQpartner, start the app, and go for a walk. The app tracks the user's activity by using GPS. This means the user can participate in any daily activity, such as walking, running or biking, as long as the activity can be measured by GPS and involves a speed of less than 14 mph. At the end of every month, the ResQpool is proportionally distributed according to the total distance contributed by the app's dedicated users.
New features include:
- Visibility for Adoptable Animals: Each day the app will feature an adoptable 'ResQanimal of the Day'. The animal will be visible on the user's map screen and in the News Feed. The goal is to encourage ResQwalkers to share the animal and help it get adopted.
- Photo Sharing: Users will be able to share photos from their ResQwalks with their friends and followers on the app.
- Personalization: Users will be able to add pets to their profile.
- Leaderboards: Users will be able to view the weekly leaderboard to see how their friends and favorite ResQs are stacking up against the competition.
Each month ResQwalk will highlight the ResQsponsors that are contributing to the ResQpool.
"Many animal lovers just don't have the time to volunteer at their local animal shelter, the space in their home to foster a pet, or the money to donate," said Bailey Schroeder, Founder and CEO of ResQwalk. "This is why we created ResQwalk. It's something that's free, simple, and easy to incorporate into your daily routine. With ResQwalk, people can contribute to great organizations while having fun and being healthy."
ResQwalk currently has over 20,000 users that have tracked 2.5 million miles. The company has raised $90,000 for animal welfare organizations across the U.S. and Canada.
ResQwalk is free and available to download on both iOS and Android devices in the U.S. and Canada.
