Results of The Nation's Report Card: Geography 2010 - Grades 4, 8, and 12 NAEP Report Reveals Students' Achievement in Geography
WASHINGTON, July 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- On July 19, the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) will release the results of a 2010 assessment that focuses on what students should know to be competent and productive 21st century citizens. Students responded to questions designed to measure their knowledge of geography in the context of space and place, environment and society, and spatial dynamics and connections. The 2010 results for fourth, eighth and twelfth graders can be compared to two previous assessment years—2001 and 1994—and include racial/ethnic and gender comparisons, as well as background data on other variables.
NAEP, also known as The Nation’s Report Card, is the largest continuing, nationally representative measure of student achievement in the United States.
In a live webinar on the report card release, a distinguished panel will discuss the report’s findings and the importance of geography in shaping an increasingly global society. Webinar panelists include:
