Retailers on the Rise at MAPIC 2010
17 - 19 November 2010 - Palais des Festivals, Cannes
PARIS, Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- MAPIC, the international market for retail real estate, today reports that over 1,000 retail representatives have already registered for the 2010 edition, a 40% increase on the same period last year*.
"Despite the challenging economic situation in most countries, retailers continue to look for the best sites to attract clients and to help them maximize their return on investment. MAPIC's wide range of potential sites in inner cities, suburbs and shopping malls in 60 countries, makes the identification process that much easier and efficient," says Nathalie Depetro, MAPIC Director.
Spanish brand Desigual, which has already registered for MAPIC 2010, is an example of a brand that is focussed on premium locations. "It is more vital than ever to target the best commercial sites with the greatest footfall. MAPIC offers a unique opportunity for retailers, in search of new locations, to expand their contact base and forge new partnerships."
Reflecting trends in the market, new retailers are increasingly integrating powerful values such as environmental protection. A case in point is men's ready-to-wear retailer Origeen (France) that uses materials derived from organic farming and recycling, and the Mexican restaurant chain Chipotle Mexican Grill (USA) that works exclusively with local suppliers and producers to provide its customers with fresh, locally sourced organic products. In the same vein, many retailers are increasingly advocating a return to simple, traditional values such as Aran Bread & Coffee (Germany) and Maison Larnicol (France). These two bakeries offer a wide range of natural products that recall childhood memories in a cosy and warm setting.
