ATLANTA, July 19, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) launched its 2016 Back2School cause campaign today in partnership with more than a dozen retailers around the country. As millions of kids and teens return to school later this month and in August, the youth advocacy organization reminds parents, teachers and community members not to forget critical after-school hours.
"Every day, 11 million kids and teens have nowhere to go when the school day ends. Research shows that after-school programs work, and youth who attend have better attendance, improved behavior, higher grades and test scores," said Jim Clark, president and CEO of BGCA. Throughout the Back2School promotion, these partners are supporting Club kids and teens by donating school supplies, galvanizing their employees to volunteer with local Clubs and engaging the public to participate in the cause campaign.
Customers can get involved by participating in the following retail programs:
- Gap/Gap Factory: July 18 – July 24
Customers who donate a backpack or make a monetary donation will receive $10 off their purchase at Gap and 10 percent off their purchase at Gap Factory.
- Old Navy Stores: July 28 – Aug. 10
Customers who visit any Old Navy store will be encouraged to donate $1, $3 or $5 to Boys & Girls Clubs, with Old Navy matching donations up to $350,000. Customers who donate $5 or more will receive a "$5 off $35" coupon to put towards a future purchase. Learn more at Oldnavy.com/campoldnavy.
- Firestone Complete Auto Care/Tires Plus/Hibdon Tires Plus/Wheel Works: Aug. 1 – Dec. 31
Customers at Bridgestone Retail Operations' tire and automotive service centers nationwide are invited to participate in three ways: Purchase a Value Book with more than $150 in savings and rebates Aug. 22 – Sep. 30; or, at the register, round up transactions to the nearest dollar or donate any amount to BGCA Aug. 1 – Dec. 31.
- Family Dollar Stores: July 18 – Aug. 27
Customers can purchase an exclusive pair of Great Futures socks for $2, where net proceeds from each pair sold will benefit BGCA.
- Microsoft Stores: July 18 – Aug. 14
Microsoft is offering students a $300 savings on a purchase of a Surface Book or Surface Pro 4 and an Xbox, exclusively at Microsoft Stores and on microsoftstore.com. For each purchase, Microsoft will donate $25 to local Boys & Girls Clubs, up to $100,000, to help spark the next generation of innovators.
- Buffalo Wild Wings: Oct. 1 – Oct. 31
Buffalo Wild Wings, through its Team Up for Kids mission, will donate 100% of every pinup purchase as well as proceeds from every limited-edition wristband Guests purchase in-restaurant from Oct. 1-31 to BGCA. All year long, $1 from each wing sauce or seasoning bottle sale goes to support ALL STARS team sports programs. Guests can also donate at www.buffalowildwings.com/giving.
- Kids Foot Locker Stores: Sept. 1 – Sept. 30
Kids Foot Locker is hosting its third-annual "Add-A-Buck" campaign in Kids Foot Locker stores around the country and on kidsfootlocker.com. Throughout September, customers will be encouraged to GO BIG and donate $1/$3/$5 for Great Futures at check-out to benefit BGCA.
- Aaron's: Aug. 1 – Aug. 31
Customers at nearly 2,000 Aaron's locations can donate $1 at the register to BGCA to support Great Futures.
- Burlington: Aug. 1 – Sept. 5
Customers are invited to donate a new or gently-used backpack at any Burlington location. Click here to find a store near you. All donated backpacks will be donated to the local Boys & Girls Club in their community.
