Retroclubnyc opens in Chelsea catering to 30+ crowd
Venue celebrates dance music from the 70s, 80s, 90s through today
NEW YORK, Sept. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Retroclubnyc, a New York City club dedicated to dance music from the 70s, 80s, 90s through today, and catering predominantly to an over 30 crowd has opened in Chelsea. The newly renovated and retro-designed club space at 161 W. 23rd St boasts over 2400 square feet, with a front lounge area, 40-foot bar, disco dance floor, DJ booth and stage. The venue serves throwback cocktails such as Long Island iced teas, sloe gin fizzes, red devils and its own signature drink, The Retro, as well as small food appetizer plates.
Owner Jeff Wittels, with experience in the wine and entertainment businesses, conceived Retroclubnyc not only out of his love for retro dance music, but also because he saw a gap in club offerings for more mature adults. "Since the days of the 70s, 80s and 90s, all that's left in the city are 20- to 25-year old hip-hop clubs, which not many people my age are interested in going to." Wittels says. "Where are the places where everyone 30-plus is going?"
The concept has already proven to be immensely popular. Even before it opened its doors at the end of August, Retroclubnyc had amassed more than 13,000 followers on Instagram… today it has almost 16,000! Customers have packed the venue during the last two opening weekends with nothing less than rave reviews!
LOCATED: 161 W. 23rd St (between 6th and 7th Avenues) Retroclubnyc is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:30pm to 2:00am, Thursday and Friday from 4:30pm to 4:00am and Saturday from 9:00pm to 4:00am. Happy Hour features drink and appetizer specials. Currently booking birthday parties and private events. Follow on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter at @retroclubnyc Visit www.retroclubnyc.com.
