"It is crucial that we mobilize women voters in this state," said Leslie Wimes, founder of the Democratic Women's African-American Caucus. In 2012, African-American Women between the ages of 18-29 helped propel President Obama to victory by coming out to vote in higher numbers than any other gender or ethnic voting subset. "To secure a democratic victory on November 4, we are going to need African-American women to demonstrate their political clout again."
Civil rights legend Reverend Jesse Jackson agreed saying, "I am excited to see this group of African-American Women organizing and inspiring our community. I've dedicated my life to seeking justice and equality for our community, and to see these young women doing something of this magnitude is so impressive, that I couldn't help but be a part of this event."
Tickets are free and available to everyone on a first come first served basis. For more information or to order tickets please call the Democratic African-American Women's Caucus (DAAWC) at 561 200-0580.
"This election is very important for the people of Florida, and the DAAWC is dedicated to ensuring that the voices of our community are heard, and our issues addressed, through our votes," said DAAWC founder, Leslie Wimes. "There is so much at stake for us, that to not turn out to vote is out of the question."
