Ricoh unveils A3 color printer with industry's lowest cost of ownership and ultra-compact footprint A direct response to customer requests, the RICOH Aficio SP C730DN is also Ricoh's first LED printer, making it compact, reliable and quiet
MALVERN, Pa., July 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Responding directly to customers asking for an affordable A3 color printer, Ricoh Americas Corporation today unveiled the RICOH Aficio SP C730DN, which immediately becomes the A3 color printer with the lowest cost of ownership and one of the smallest footprints in the industry. It also introduces LED printing technology to Ricoh's robust line of industry-leading printers and multifunction products (MFPs) that give users from corporate environments down to the home office the tools to transform the way they work.
The innovative LED architecture gives the 32-ppm device a smaller size and increased reliability, as well as 1200x1200 dpi resolution without compromising speed. The RICOH Aficio SP C730DN is perfect for architectural/engineering/construction (AEC) offices that need larger documents, as well as general office settings that need an occasional A3 (11-x-17-inch) option.
Its 19-x-20-x-14-inch dimensions make the RICOH Aficio SP C730DN a desktop printer as opposed to the far-more-expensive console machines in the A3 class. Operation costs are also lower than competing solutions at eight cents per page versus 10-12 cents per page for competitors, according to Ricoh's analysis.1
"We're serving the many customers who require A3 printing ability but don't want to pay for a high-speed, high-volume device or a wide range of finishing options," said Jason Dizzine, Vice President, Technology Marketing, Ricoh Americas Corporation. "Until now, they haven't had a solution. This device fills that hole in the market, and we're looking forward to helping many delighted, productive customers."
In addition to new levels of compactness and affordability, the SP C730DN introduces innovative energy-saving features. An Eco-Night Sensor executes a "hard shutdown" of the device when the office lights are turned down, and restarts the printer automatically when the lights come back on. Other printers simply go to sleep, using more energy than a hard shutdown, and lack any way to restart. Customers can achieve the same end with a new timer that automatically shuts the printer down on nights and weekends and restarts it on workday mornings. The timer can be set to any schedule.
The RICOH Aficio SP C730DN can serve as a standalone workgroup printer or an information portal in a Business Information Solutions application. It supports the RICOH @Remote fleet management service and includes elements from Ricoh's next-generation intelligent MFP platform, including a tilting 4-line control panel, mobile printing capability and advanced security options. These options include password access, encryption of stored data, locked/hold/stored print and a DataOverwriteSecurity System to automatically destroy latent images on the hard drive. The RICOH Aficio SP C730DN is compatible with Ricoh partner software for cost control and card authentication.
Available today, the RICOH Aficio SP C730DN has an MSRP of $2,499. For details on Ricoh's full line of products, services and solutions, please visit www.ricoh-usa.com.
