RockYou Acquires RockYou Asia to Further Extend its Leadership in Asia

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- RockYou, the leading innovator, creator and distributor of social experiences across social networks announced today a $10 million round of funding from SoftBank and the acquisition of a majority of the shares in its joint venture, RockYou Asia.

The $10 million round of funding from SoftBank follows a $50 million Series D funding from SoftBank in November of 2009 and further demonstrates SoftBank's commitment to social networking and to RockYou's unique role of engaging the world through social media. This funding round brings RockYou's total financing to $127 million. Other investors in RockYou include Sequoia Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Partech International, DCM and SK Telecom.

RockYou has been working with a number of game developers throughout Asia to monetize, license, and publish games globally. With RockYou Asia's success in Japanese, Korean, and Chinese social gaming, RockYou plans to further extend its leadership in Asia.
