Ronnie Magro Partners With Qubeey For Shore Relief
"Jersey Shore" Star Uses New Technology to Raise Funds
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- As a part of his response to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, Ronnie Magro, star of MTV's "Jersey Shore," today announced his personal "Save the Shore" initiative to raise funds through his new Qubeey channel to help New Jersey's Seaside Heights and surrounding areas.
He is encouraging social media family, friends and fans to go to his channel, www.qubeey.com/ronniemagro, to give to the American Red Cross. Additionally, Qubeey, his new digital partner, will donate $.15 for every person who follows his channel.
"Seaside Heights is more than our television home; it's a real place affected by the hurricane. We are all giving out of our pockets, but I feel it's my duty to ask my personal network of friends and fans to help, too," Magro said.
"My digital partner, Qubeey, is supporting this message by giving every time someone follows my channel. So even if you don't have money to give right now, go to Qubeey.com/ronniemagro and they will donate on your behalf," he said.
Before the hurricane, plans were underway to launch Magro's Qubeey channel, a customized micro-site featuring videos, photos, interviews and other Magro content.
"Once the hurricane hit, Ronnie immediately switched gears and asked how can we leverage his power as a celebrity and the power of our platform to help relief efforts. The answer is this campaign to get everyone involved in supporting Jersey shore relief," said Rocky Wright, Qubeey CEO and brainchild behind the browser-free Internet technology.
Based in Southern California, Qubeey is revolutionizing communications across the Internet. Key among its many attributes is its assertive outreach component which allows channel owners to appear instantly, based on follower request, on desktops, mobile tops and other devices with video notifications, even if they are off the browser or working in other programs.
"Ronnie can actually walk out onto followers' desktops to deliver personal and interactive messages," said Marcus LeGall III, Qubeey EVP, Entertainment.
Additionally, according to LeGall, Magro can easily access his Facebook and Twitter accounts through the Qubeey platform to solicit campaign support from his other social networks.
In addition to his personal campaign, Magro will participate with "Jersey Shore" cast members in an MTV fundraising special called "Restore the Shore," on Nov. 15, Live from MTV's Times Square Studio, at 11 p.m. ET, tape delayed PT on air, online and on mobile.
MTV's partner for the fundraising effort is Architecture for Humanity, an internationally-recognized non-profit organization that provides design and construction services to communities in need.
