Rooms for the inaugural Formula 1 race in Austin are still available

MERRILLVILLE, Ind., Aug. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Despite published reports that the hotels in Austin are fully booked for the 2012 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, there are still rooms available in at least 21 hotels in Austin and Round Rock.

These 21 hotels have rooms available from Nov. 11 through race day on Nov. 18. A minimum stay of four nights is required at the hotels.

"We have rooms at multiple hotels that can be booked on a variety of websites, such as the hotel brands' websites and the Circuit of the Americas' website that still have rooms available starting at $349 a night and require a four night minimum," said Natalie Hart , regional director of sales and marketing.

A partnership between Circuit of the Americas and the nonprofit Hotels for Hope, allows rooms booked at www.CircuitofTheAmericas.com to be interfaced with the nonprofit's website. A portion of the proceeds booked on the website will be donated to Austin Partners in Education and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area.

"White Lodging is pleased to have all of its Austin-area hotels participate in the Hotels for Hope program to give back to the community that's our home," Hart said.

Hart said the hotels require a minimum stay based on the length of the event and the limitations on traffic patterns for national and international travel.

"They are higher than average rates for Austin," Hart said, "but they are comparable with other major sporting events that attract an international crowd.

She said the rates for the hotels were modeled on other Formula 1 events, such as Montreal's race and the first year the race was held in Indianapolis in 2002.

Guests at the hotels will be getting a little more bang for their buck.

"It's definitely not business as usual," said Hart. "We're rolling out the red carpet for our guests."

Hart said all reservations at the 21 hotels include breakfast and although White Lodging prides itself on consistently high levels of service, extra staff will be on hand to make sure that high level is continued through the busy weekend.
