Ross Solar Group Helps Faith Formation Center at St. Rose of Lima Church Achieve Net-Zero Energy with High Efficiency SunPower Solar System
Large Rooftop SunPower Installation in Newtown, Conn.
DANBURY, Conn., July 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ross Solar Group has completed a 38-kilowatt SunPower solar power system on behalf of the Diocese of Bridgeport at the St. Rose of Lima (St. Rose) church campus in Newtown, Conn. The system was installed at the newly constructed Faith Formation Center and will meet 100 percent of the building's electricity needs.
Comprised of 116 high efficiency SunPower solar panels, the system is expected to generate in excess of 40,000 kilowatt hours of clean energy per year. According to estimates provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the solar system will offset more than 60,800 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
"St. Rose church has served the Newtown community for more than 100 years and continues to lead by example with its decision to go solar, displaying a commitment to renewable energy and conservation," said Josh Ross, owner of the Ross Solar Group. "The solar system installation and the entire development of the Faith Formation Center was made possible by the vision and design of an anonymous St. Rose parishioner, along with a generous donation, who's committed to giving back to the community and improving the environment.
St. Rose has combined cutting-edge technology with a forward thinking philosophy in development of the church's newly built, 6,500 square foot net zero energy Faith Formation Center, spearheaded by Pam Arsenault and Monsignor Robert Weiss. The project management was handled by Mark Johanning and Verdi Construction.
"Ross Solar Group was invited to be the official solar provider and installer because of their commitment to quality, communication, and customer service, making our choice easy when selecting the right partner for this green building project," said Mark Johanning, project manager at Verdi Construction.
