LOS ANGELES, Oct. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Beverly Hills/Greater Los Angeles Association of REALTORS® today announced that Chief Executive Officer Roxann Burdick, CAE, has retired after 39 years with the organization. The Board of Directors named Edward Segal, CAE, chief executive officer of the Marin County Association of REALTORS®, to succeed her.
"Roxann Burdick did it her way," said Martin D. Geimer, 2013 president of the BH/GLAAR. "She came out of retirement five years ago to help revive our Association and enabled us to achieve an historic membership level of 7,000 REALTORS® today. I congratulate her for bringing us to this point and for a job well done," he said.
"As chair of the Search Committee, I am very pleased to welcome Edward Segal as our new chief executive officer. He is the right person at the right time, with the skills and expertise we need in leadership, management and public relations. With him at the helm, we are on our way to becoming one of the best REALTOR® associations in California," Geimer said.
"I am excited about the opportunities for growth, engagement and advocacy that face this organization. I look forward to working with the leadership and members to help advance the best interests of REALTORS® and property owners," Segal said.
As CEO of the Marin Association of REALTORS® for the past 10 years, Segal returned the organization to a sound financial footing, waged a series of successful lobbying campaigns on issues affecting REALTORS® and homeowners and helped lead the state three times in the level of voluntary contributions that the Association's members made to the industry's political action fund.
Segal previously worked in Washington, DC as a lobbyist, public relations consultant and press secretary to members of Congress. He was the marketing strategies columnist for The Wall Street Journal's StartupJournal.com, a freelance writer and authored two public relations handbooks including Getting Your 15 Minutes of Fame (Wiley & Sons) and Profit by Publicity (iUniverse).
Segal is among only five percent of association professionals in the United States to have earned the Certified Association Executive credential (CAE) from the American Society of Association Executives. He received the REALTOR® association Certified Executive designation (RCE) from the National Association of REALTORS®.
