Runners World Cover Model Runs 10th Consecutive Boston Marathon for Sick Children

AUSTIN, Texas, April 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Talaya Frazier will run 110% of the 2016 Boston Marathon course at age 40 to honor her decade of running for children battling rare/undiagnosed disorders.  She'll run the full marathon course, then later finish an additional 2.62 miles with Dave McGillivray (Race Director), who traditionally begins running after the last person finishes the race. Talaya says "running the course again at night without race support symbolizes the daily battles fought by every brave child, like her teammate Eva, who never knows if, or when they'll get well."

Talaya began running the Boston Marathon for her youngest daughter Cheyanna, then battling a 3-year undiagnosed Failure-to-Thrive condition. She competed in Marathons and Triathlons as a Child Ambassador for the Worldvision international humanitarian organization. Talaya leveraged her Runner's World cover to found her own Cheyanna's Champions 4 Children (CC4C) charity to honor Cheyanna's recovery by helping other struggling children.

Talaya grittily completed the last half of the 2012 Boston Marathon on an agonizing broken leg (Femur) with the encouragement of her CC4C teammate, Runner's World cover model and professional triathlete/marathoner Desire Ficker. Their commitment to cross the finish line for their sponsored children inspired Power Bar's "You're Stronger Than You Think" campaign. Talaya returned the following year with 10 high-profile Austin athletes, each running for their own CC4C child. She set her own personal marathon best after miraculously healing naturally from 3 months of complete bedrest. Talaya continues to bring inspired Texans each year to run Boston wearing lime-green jerseys imprinted with "CC4C Child XXX Finish Line" and purple wristbands with CC4C children's mottos sharing how they'll reach their recovery finish line. Each CC4C athlete places their Boston Medal around their young teammates neck upon return home.
