Salaries & Job Satisfaction Hold Steady, According to Light Reading's Second Annual Salary Survey
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Salaries in the global telecom industry have begun to stabilize, with more than 40 percent of telecom professionals expecting a small to moderate pay raise this year, according to the results of the second annual Salary Survey published by UBM TechWeb's Light Reading (www.lightreading.com), the largest research-led media company serving the global communications marketplace.
Light Reading's 2010/2011 Salary Survey is available free to registered users at: www.lightreading.com/salarysurvey
As part of its annual salary survey, Light Reading polled 2,500 telecom professionals, including nearly 600 service providers. Based on this survey of Light Reading's global audience, it's clear that job satisfaction in the telecom industry remains steady. Here are some of the highlights from the report:
- More than 60 percent of respondents increased their income year-on-year in 2011, while 65 percent expect to make more in 2012
- In 2010, only 15 percent of respondents thought their department would reduce headcount in the year ahead, but 28 percent of those we surveyed this year say their companies did make job cuts
- As in last year's survey, less than half plan to leave their current employer in the next year
- Three quarters of respondents were satisfied with their employer overall
