SantaFe HealthCare Announces Retirement of President and CEO Michael P. Gallagher

GAINESVILLE, Fla., Feb. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- After 12 years as president, chief executive officer and member of the board of directors of SantaFe HealthCare, Michael P. Gallagher will be retiring.

"Gallagher is an exemplary leader and his strategic impact on SantaFe HealthCare and its affiliates will benefit our members, patients and residents well into the future," said Glenda Hood, chair of the SantaFe HealthCare Board of Directors. "He brought decades of knowledge and expertise and developed a strong executive team.  We are thankful for his years of leadership."

Gallagher joined SantaFe HealthCare in 2001 and served in executive roles prior to being named president and CEO in 2007. From 2001 to 2006, Gallagher served as executive vice president and chief financial officer for both SantaFe HealthCare and AvMed with a variety of responsibilities including financial & regulatory reporting, treasury, operations, strategic planning, and business growth & diversification. Additionally, he served as president and a member of the board of directors responsible for Haven and SantaFe Senior Living and each of its retirement communities.

While at the helm of SantaFe HealthCare, Gallagher had been actively engaged in serving various organizations at the national, state and local community level. These include serving on the boards and as chair of committees for America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) and Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP), serving as a member of the Florida Council of 100 and previous chair of the board of directors of the Greater Gainesville Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of North Central Florida.

Prior to joining SantaFe HealthCare, Gallagher was a senior executive with Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania, and an insurance specialist partner with Coopers & Lybrand in Columbus, Ohio.

Gallagher earned his Bachelor of Science in business administration with accounting honors from the University of Dayton. He is a licensed certified public accountant in Ohio and author, instructor, and participant in various continuing education courses.

A search committee of the SantaFe HealthCare Board of Directors has been working through this transition and plans to announce Gallagher's successor in the near future.
