New food store offers 20-40 percent grocery savings compared to conventional grocers

TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla., Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Save-A-Lot food stores, the nation's leading hard discount grocery chain, today opens its doors in Temple Terrace, FL. The company's newest store is located at 5014 Busch Blvd.

"Save-A-Lot is committed to building stores in areas that are in need of access to fresh, nutritious food at a great price," said Rick Meyer, VP of Market Development. "We are proud to be a member of the Temple Terrace community and look forward to providing budget-conscious, value-seeking shoppers with great food at great prices."

The new store is open seven days a week from 7 AM to 11 PM. Local shoppers can expect to find excellent quality food and save an average of 20 to 40 percent on grocery bills.

In addition to the newest store, Save-A-Lot currently operates 106 stores throughout the state, with locations in Orlando and Tampa. The company plans continued growth as it plans to double its size over the next 5 years.

Nourishing Families, Nurturing Communities

Save-A-Lot has made a $2,500 gift card donation to St. Vincent de Paul Society at Corpus Christi Catholic Church to help with its mission to provide temporary food assistance, as part of their commitment to the community.

"This gift from Save-A-Lot comes at the perfect time as we continue to help Temple Terrace struggling families during these tough economic times," said Yoli Adams, Foodbank Volunteer. "We thank Save-A-Lot for their generosity and look forward to having a new community partner for area families."

Save-A-Lot also strives for environmental responsibility with efficient operations and productive use of resources. This includes operating a distribution center in area strategically located distribution centers in order to reduce fuel and energy use. In addition, Save-A-Lot has introduced strict green practices in its stores, distribution centers and corporate offices, including recycling paper, plastic, cardboard boxes and aluminum.

Save-A-Lot is also committed to the procurement of local produce. For the Florida stores, much of the produce comes from farmers throughout the state to reduce the impact of shipping product across the country and to support local farmers.

The grand opening of the Save-A-Lot Food Store offers the Temple Terrace community affordable, easy access to food and groceries, and brought to the area 30 store associates hired from the local neighborhood.
