DALLAS, Oct. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- SaveOnEnergy.com®, one of the longest-standing online energy comparison websites, is proud to announce it will offer a $1,000 scholarship to currently enrolled college students for the spring term of 2014.

Interested students should submit a 600-800 word essay outlining the green initiatives their college or university currently has in place, and exploring specific areas for improvement on campus. The focus of each essay should be equal parts what is being done by their school to reduce the institution's energy costs and environmental impact, and what additional measures could be implemented to further both of these causes.

Essay submissions will be accepted through 11:59 p.m. CST on Sunday, November 17, 2013. Up to five finalists will be selected on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, with a single winner being announced, based on a vote conducted through social media, on Wednesday, November 27, 2013.
