The competition starting on July 1 through to July 19 is running alongside the Tour de France that kicks off on June 29, through to July 21. Traders can join for free at any stage and Saxo Bank will publish daily results of the leading traders locally and globally on the competition website.
Each week, the global trader with the biggest gain in total amount will receive a prize, ranging from Saxo-Tinkoff Windstopper Jackets to Saxo-Tinkoff Bodyfit Pro Team Jerseys. The highest-ranking participant overall from select regions will win a V.I.P experience at the finale of La Vuelta later in the year, including a ride in the sports directors car during one of the last laps in Madrid. The regions included are Denmark, Spain, UK, Middle East, Italy, France and South Africa. The global winner of the competition will receive a piece of Tour de France history: Alberto Contador's Tour de France bike, a Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL4.
Henrik Lykkesteen, Chief Marketing Officer at Saxo Bank, commented: "The Saxo Tour de Trading competition celebrates the skills and mental strength of traders. There is a strong similarity between the mentality of cyclists and traders: both need to be able to respond swiftly and take calculated risks, both share the absolute confidence in their ability and they both demand excellence from their equipment. This competition is an opportunity for serious traders to hone and prove their skills and just like the Tour de France, it is very demanding and requires training and discipline, but the rewards are high."
