Say 'Yes' To "Chinese Splendor" -- 'No' To Dog Meat
St. Martin's Animal Foundation and Animal Advocate Demonstrators
LOS ANGELES, July 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On the heels of the controversial "Yulin Dog Meat Festival" which recently took place in the GuangXi province of China, where up to 10,000 dogs were brutally bludgeoned and slaughtered, the goal is to heighten awareness in the United States and support the activists and animal welfare groups in China that are working tirelessly to completely abolish the dog meat trade and the so-called festival created by the city's dog meat traders.
Performers, audience members and promoters of the "Chinese Splendor" event occurring this Saturday, July 5 at the Hollywood Bowl will be invited to speak out against the "Festival" in the interest of animal protection, food safety and public health of China.
This year marks a building opposition to the Yulin mass dog consumption promoted as a local "traditional diet." Chinese activists across the country staged various protest events. Reporters from some 60 Chinese media organizations and a rare assemblage of foreign correspondents converged in Yulin to cover the "Festival" and the growing national opposition to its being promoted as a local tradition.
Celebrity animal activists and Animal Welfare Groups in attendance include: Ady Gil, Elaine Hendrix, Lori Alan, St. Martin's Animal Foundation, #notodogmeat, #saynotodogmeat and members of PETA.
The demonstration takes place Saturday, July 5 at The Hollywood Bowl, 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
